| Viking provides the key to Gateway Leisure Club |

Viking Saunas has, quite literally, created a ‘hotspot’ within a Chester hotel’s leisure club. Using their specialist ‘inside out’ design and installation capabilities, Viking Saunas has transformed a previously unused area of the hotel with the provision of new sauna cabin and steam room facilities.

As part of its leisure club refurbishment, the Chester Gateway to Wales Hotel has replaced its old sun bed room and storage area with a new contemporary sauna and steam room. |

| Mike Sudbury, hotel manager, said: “We needed to fit units as large as possible, within the existing space in a timescale of just five weeks. It was essential that the design met all these requirements.” Two issues became apparent Pam Senior, manager of Viking Saunas explains: “The floor surface on to which the facilities needed to be installed was not suitable and needed to be completely reformed with drainage and non-slip finish. The second problem was that of space. Using our revolutionary “inside out” design we were able to construct from the inside, utilising all the space available within the area. This included working around a ceiling height which housed a lower than normal air conditioning unit. “The steamroom seats up to 8 people, and the sauna seat up to 10. The exterior of the sauna and steamroom have been finished in knot-free Hemlock, with the boards continuing up to existing ceiling height. Colour therapy lighting has been fitted into the sauna, along with a tinted glass window in the front wall. The unusual plum colour of the steamroom interior was chosen by the hotel from a range of 240 colours. In compliance with the Disability Discrimination Act, the glass doors to both units are also suitable for disabled access.” Mike concludes: “From initial consultation to aftercare, I cannot praise Viking Saunas enough. Its quality and professionalism has provided us with an area that now offers a ‘wow’ factor to guests when they walk in.” |
